Hi, started to train as domestic electrical installer 6 weeks ago, distance learning with workshop centre practical's to complete as well, over a 3 year period or sooner if desired. The course covers part P defined scope, 2382, 2392, 2365 level 2, units 201,/ 501, 202, 203, 204, 210.

I have done air conditioning for the last 18 years on and off , panel wiring in the mining and oil and rail industries, for about 2 years and installing cable and rack systems for BT. Currently fitting cooling system to mobile telephone cabs through out the country, these are -48 volt systems.

Looking to get some domestic experience now.

Part P courses are I suppose taken nowadays by those who want to register under the part P scheme .Reading your list of already quite specialized areas you should fly through any part P course.

but of course there are many areas of general electrical installation that are not really covered by these courses. The job of installing wiring in housing simply has to be learned by actually doing the job .Marking and chasing walls ,sinking boxes ,installing drywall boxes etc require you to understand how the building is actually constructed, This really is a bonus when planning wiring routes for example and the only way to really improve is to try to get on a couple of domestic rewires .If you do not have it already obtain a copy of BS 7671 Onsite guide. This will be invaluable to you. Good Luck
