got my nic assesment soon, can any one offer any advise, want to cover all bases.

couple of things do i need

1 voltage tester, is ther a difference between cheap and expensive brands, will mft do

2 mcb locks, main switch locks, dose one size fit all

3 proving units, no one domestic wants to pay for one of these?

any advise would be appreciated thanks

I'm a DI..

You will need

BS7671

EAWR

H&S policy

Complaints record

Part P (printed copy from online)

Test equipment (I've got a MFT 1502)

Voltage indicator (I've got a fluke T140??)

I don't have any lock offs or a prooving unit..

You will also need copies of certificates that you have issued and a log of those certificates.

HTH,, unfortunately I've probably forgotten something.. ;)

testers must conform to gs38.

you can get certain mcb locks that will fit all. The hook over the switch and a grub screw nips upto it.

and as for proving unit just test on known supply, (incomming tails)

got most of that mate picking up voltage indicator tommorrow,

still looking for part p down load.

pl insurance is gettin sorted tomorrow as well.

am confident with it but if u trip up on something it can cost a lot.

Just make sure that you use your voltage indicator to prove safe isolation... you cannot use an MFT for this.
will pick one up tommorrow.

so u just stick it on the tails side, then on the isolated side then on the tails again,

so long as there happy i am happy.

when testing r1 r2 i will screw the cu lid back on

Never leave anything unattended that could be live (isolated or not) with the cover off..

Sometimes your assesor might say it's ok to leave the cover off if you are the only ones in the property,, just double check him as if you'd never do it

pir, on the cert it ask for next pir date, is this, for your circuit, whole instalation, or the date on the pri sticker on cu?

the date you think the next pir should be done, 10 years for a new install.

they may also want to see an estimate that you have done and risk assesment, H&S policy, contract of work if i think of anything else i will post

i have just added a new circuit, the date on the cu is about 10 years ago,

so should it be pir now or pir 10 years for my circuit

thanks
