just about to send off for my nic assessment (first time), i'm hertfordshire based, does anyone know the assessor for this area and if so whats he like? any help would be great ie choccie biccies or hob nobs!!!

cheers

What are you going as nutsy, Approved Contractor or Domestic Installer?????

I'm not in your area so unfortunately can't comment on your local assessor,,,, BTW they use different assessors for AC and DI

Hi Noz, just going as DI for now and poss AC next year. gotta see how work goes, pretty slow at the moment and what work is out there

people seem to want it done for next to nothing.

You still get a letter with the proposed date and the name of who's gonna come and visit you though.

:D

But saying that ..

on three occasions now I've had a different person turn up than was on the letter!!!!

:C :D

It don't really matter who they are..

so long as you know your stuff and can offer a Cup-O-Tea!

:coffee

cheers lads, any things i should really brush up on. dont want to muck up on this as is a vicous circle no nic no work, getting sick and tired of paying LABC extortionate amounts of money for them to basically do naff all.

I am in N London and i think our assessor covers your area as-well. He goes as far as Potter Bar. The NIC will tell you his name in the letter confirming the inspection. Ask again when you know.
what part of north london, i'm based in enfield

So am I

Most important, have all your paperwork ready, insurance, past certificates, calibration certs of equipment, books such as BS7671, On site guide, Memorandum of health & safety at work act. Complaints procedures. Not sure if you would need GN3. Make sure your van is clean & tidy as you have to take him to visit some jobs. Make sure you will have access to the jobs, keep a spare one booked just in case.

All good points,,, I've got a folder made up with all my bits and pieces in,, insurances, complaints log, calibration certs, accuracy log, etc, etc...

I also keep all my certs in a seperate folder with another log.

BTW,, DI assessors use their own transport between jobs and usually do not return to your office at the end.

A spare job is a very good idea!
