what a day.... why the hell do some sparks (if i can call them that) chop of the earth (in T&E) when using low voltage transformers....

this makes life so hard when trying to prove polarity....which i could not do at this time, especially when i can not use a long lead, as it was a commercial shop that was open... plus i can not prove cpc continuity.....

yeah, but at least they could leave it there, or connect it to the earth terminal on the transformer... even if it is not used...

the earth is not needed for the lights

however it should be connected for continuity

to protect the cable

You can not under any circumstances chop the earth off!

Just because a devise does not require an earth does not mean it should be neglected.

The earth should always be suitably terminated and insulated so as to provide a protective earthing for the mains wiring in the circuit.

If no terminal is provided within the appliance the electrician has a duty to suitably terminate and maintain earthing throughout the circuit.

1001%

It is NOT hard to terminate an unused conductor in a spare terminal block or wago or similar!

and still leave it accessible for any future changes alterations testing etc..
