Just listening to the news that HS 2  costs  are expected to  be  10 million times the original estimate .        It appears that all major projects carried out in UK  seem to go WELL over budget .

No idea what happens in other countries.

Having done some estimating I suppose on huge projects it would be easy to lose the plot half way through .        Imagine trying to quote for the London Cross Rail say .

I noticed when quoting  ,  often to be submitted  to a deadline before opening   ,  we would then be told what the other quotes were .    Some you could tell were so over estimated  they probably didn't want the job  ,   some were ridiculously  low  , you could tell they had missed some major sections out   ..... then others would be really close to your own quote  which at least gave you confidence  that others had looked at it in the same way as yourself....and that figure was a fair estimation of the job .

Question is ,  have you ever dropped an enormous goullie    or the opposite & found yourself on a right good earner ?

Well why we make a balls up of HS2, in other news the Chinese have started building a new hospital to cope with the Corona Virus, and it will be open a week on Monday.
