Hi All,

if im extending a lighting circuit for adding a smoke alarm is it notifiable under part p?

i understand that if im extending it just for lighting its not, (providing its not special location etc), but im not sure if there is anything special about fire alarms.

if anyone can help on this it would be a huge help!

cheers

AFAIK

There is no direct requirement to notify smoke alarms under Part P?

But if your smoke alarms consisted of a new circuit back to CU the new circuit would need notifying.

Whereas as you say, you can add anything onto a lighting circuit providing its not in a special location and it's not notifiable!

so I'd say No, not needed to notify! :)
