Hi everyone, i'm new to the forum and the trade :) ive just been accepted for an appreticeship and i was looking on the SJIB website and i see that they have rates of pay. My question is are these rates just a guide or are they mandatory?

if the firm is SJIb they should pay the rates if not they do as they please mate

 
Hi guys, as i said before i am just starting my apprenticeship at college and i was told by someone i work with that the company should be covering my travel expenses is this true?

Threads merged. As a general rule in business, (any sector not just electrical), employees pay their own way to and from work at the start and end of the day. Any travel during the working day as part of working activities is a business expense and would typically be covered or claimed back.

140 more than i got! why dont you just ask for it? worst case they say no, but whos going to argue in this climate? lucky to find someone willing to take you on mate.

 
i know a lad who hitched to tech everyday, he was never once late, might try that tomorrow with a bundle of conduit under my arm! save on fuel!! :D

 
I will ask but i was just wondering before i asked, and yeah i was very lucky to get taken on :) and i wish my parents would help lol and a push bike is the last resort haha

 
When I was an apprentice you got to college at your own expense you will still be getting paid to attend college won't you i can't see it costing more than

 
You could be eligible for discount student rates for travel, ask your college for details.

 
When I was in college we got our 37.5 hrs a week as we went in 6 week blocks on the jtl apprenticeship and we got our travel expenses paid! I just used to get a weekly rider on the bus which was

 
The company will cover it as, in Scotland, they get it back from SECCT
