If you saw this gas pipe under a consumer unit whilst carrying out a Periodic inspection would you code it, & if so what code ?

There is a 25mm gap

16th edition.?

its not enclosed, but still not good,

I dont think I would personally code it, but definitely note it on the cert,

does it contravene the electric regs or the gas ones? who is to blame?

should be 50mm at least, so on thinking more a code 4 should do.

deffo, a code 4 , proximity to external influences and other services as a minimum reference point, you should be able to quote the numbers to yourself. :)

Its a nice example, for the record the distance in this case should be 150mm, not 50mm. I can not examine the photo as it will not enlarge.

I have had a similar problem, a gas engineer decided to put the main gas service pipe right accross the front of the Cu, you could not even open the CU cover to reset any MCB or RCD.

I think in this case it is definately an on site assessment case, looks like the gas was there first, so :-

a, its definately a code 4, because it does not comply with BS7671

b, its definately a code 2, because it requires improvement

We have to take the highest code for the report, so I would say this is a code 2.

Thats my assessment from a supplied photo.
