just going through a PIR that i carried out today, and I am trying to work out what code you would issue to

non - IP rated lights in the bathroom. There are 5 in total, one above the shower.

at present i have coded it as 1 (one). do u guy's agree

No mate probably a 4 given the info you have given here and my experience.

At worst a 2.

However I have not seen the install you have, though I find it hard to imagine making it a 1, sorry.

how high is the ceiling?

if its above 2.25m, then there is no requirement for IP rated

depending on exact situation, hard to justify code 1. id say 2 at worst

Agreed - can`t give that a 1 really, tbh - although, as said, YOU are signing the PIR, so you have the responsibility for it - which means you also need to be able to justify it.

I`m about to start a thread, with some photos taken on a recent PIR - I was going to put the code I`d given, but guesses as to the code could be useful as an exercise, if anyone wishes?????

KME

I'd go with a 4

I had a similar one today,,, light switch in a bathroom 1.9m away from the bath so it's out of zones,, so while I wouldn't install it there myself there is nothing wrong with it,,, it hasn't got RCD protection or supplementary bonding either;) all I'm going to be doing is adding supplementary bonding:|

maybe just post the pics for now, see what others say first

Keep the codes quiet KME it will be a good exercise, as long as everyone behaves and realises that they only have "part" of the information.

Thanks mate - as said, report is already in (all 200+ pages of it!!!!!) ; so I`ve put this up purely as a learning exercise, if anyone is interested.

Remember, there aren`t any definitive "right" or "wrong" answers - each person codes according to what they see, and how they interpret.

KME :)

Just another PIR question (as I don't think it's worthy of it's own thread):

Small industrial unit, 3 phase board, all wired in galv conduit.

Everything okay, except 13A ring mains wired in 2.5mm solid core cable.

I would always use multi strand conduit cable.

Would solid cored cable in galv conduit warrant any mention or not? All tests okay.

its just because one of them is located above the shower....
Without seeing the manufactures installation instructions it may be difficult to even justify a 4. How old is the installation? For a very long time bathroom lights with open 100w bulbs traditional open shades fitted on pendant or batten holders screwed above the baths have survived without electrocuting someone or igniting a property. How great is the hazard? A code 1 is an immediate danger, such as exposed live parts etc.
