Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help?
I'm trying to replace a standard plastic one switch light fitting with metal fronted dimmer switch. I have looked inside the box and the back box is plastic, the earth wire is just sitting in the box wrapped in insulating tape not connected to anything as the current switch is plastic. I have seen a number of videos explaining that the earth needs to be earthed against the back of a metal back box and then joined with the earth wire coming from the main wires. if the back box is plastic, do I just connect the earth wire to the face plate of the metal dimmer switch??
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
