You are not allowed to pull the main fuse as to do so will be undertaking works on the DNO network and you are not allowed to do this without written permission from the DNO, no H&S law is relevant in this as it would be ESQCR.

I appreciate your previous background in H&S trust me, I do, however, if your electrical experience is typical of my current colleagues within IOSH then please don't be offended, but you need to think again!!!

Hi I am new to the trade and taken the relevant C&G exams as I was forced to change career . I have my Elecsa inspection in 2 weeks and I have decided to change my parents consumer unit however I need some advice.

From the main incoming supply to the meter to the Consumer unit, the tails are meant to be 25mm however these cables are are not, more like 16mm ( nothing written on them ) My issue is I can snip the wire seal on the 80amp fuse and remove it without worry but can i snip the seal on the meter in order to change those tails or is the electric company ( edf ) responsible for it?

I have just under 2 weeks so dont have much time. As I said its a new career for me and appologies for a question which is probably simple for you guys

Many thanks
Which would be?

So if your not allowed to check the mainfuse then you have to upgrade the tails (consumers tails not dnos) to 25mm incase there's a 100a mainfuse in the cutout?

When I did my assessment last year with elecsa. I left the 16mm tails in and connected to my new cu. As I knew it was a 60a in the cutout. Assessor was ok with this. But think I'm going to invest on some of andys special gloves in future as it seems they're clamping down on pulling mainfuses.

Cheers
