I was there to "replace all the sockets with new and swap some singles to doubles."

The best I can offer with that, is get the plumber back, if they can remember who it was to remove the radiator and I can fit a blank plate with it terminated inside in wago's.

Even the house owner had not noticed until I pointed it out.

It's not hard to shut off the rad valves, drain down and remove rad, but I can understand not getting involved.

I would smash off to gain access to extend and insulate and chase a few inches. Looks easy enough to get a filling knife with some bonding plaster. Tight but can be done.
