returned to a job today to tind that the gas fitter had been in to install the gas pipe for the cooker

customer is recalling the plumber to fix some other mistakes so this will be added to the list

Get plumber back to move it. if he refuses, tell him it will be moved by another plumber at his expense
I agree they have the same responsibilities that we have and what he has done could have him removed from the gas safe register.

On some jobs i have thought about re-routing the cable to the outlet the plumber has put a pipe over - maybe put nice offset into trunking and take it over cooker bayonet fitting making it unusable when he tries to connect cooker

One thing I did note on the photo, sorry to be so picky but any cable going into an enclosure should not rely on the cable terminals as an anchor.

So put a cable clip on that cable :(

is that an outside cooker point?????

just wondered with the wall looking like that :p

just about every cooker outlet has a cable clamp inside, so its not on the terminals

no it is inside a lot of the walls area in a shocking state.

while trying to sink a back box into a wall i ended pushing a brick through the wall. I have written to the customer with my concerns with the walls.

the cable is being burried in plaster and is firmly held in the box.

I had that happen to me once when drilling a fixng for a backbox after removing the wood embedded to hold the surface minted swich. That is why I won't use cheap tools any more (blunt bit and crap hammerdrill). Other side had just been papered too :( .

Ian.

If the brick is loose, then it will go though even with a new drill bit

plumbing done before plastering in the kitchen ??

plasterer is going have fun getting around the plumbing !!!!!

Big Red Book and OSG , himsay gas and electric should be seperated by 150mm gap !! So that would apply to us and them .Deke
Plumbers book says different though - something along the lines of

'pipes go anywhere you can get them. Added points if you can obstruct access to something electrical'

he has already had plasterer in to do a few rooms. seems most upset that I have had to damage the freshly plastered wall to dig useless junction boxes out.

its the responsibility of the electricain to move the outlet, dont ask me why it just is.!
