Got one of these about 18months ago, very good, makes neat job of floorboards, handy for when it matters. All Aldi tools I have had have been very good and good value.

Oh dear.

My Aldi Muuli tool failed on me on Friday.

I was plunge cutting some wood and it started running erratic. I quickly found the problem was the on off switch. If I pushed hard on it (beyond it's normal on position) I got it going again just long enough to finish my job but now it's completely dead.

I'll take it apart in the vain hope it's just a loose connection, but otherwise it's going back for a refund (I would like a replacement but doubt they have any)

If I have to accept a refund I'll get one of the Clas Ohlson ones. Having had one, this is now a "must have" tool.

Knowing I have a job soming up where I need to use this, I finally got around to having a look at why it wasn't working.

I unscrewed the cover and here's the fault. A loose wire on one of the brushes.

I have to say, it's a particularly poorly "engineered" machine. The wires attach to the brushes merely by the bare end of the wire being inserted into a hole in the carbon brush, and the spring wire that tensions the brush is supposed to press down on the wire and hold it there. Only on this side the spring wire had missed the electrical wire, so nothing was actually holding it in the hole and it had worked it's way out.

Yes I could have taken it back for a refund (if I could find the receipt) but fixing it seemed a quicker option.

Aldi had some of the 10.8v ones for 29.99 the other day some may still have if anyones still looking.

Bought the chas Olson one after reading this thread. One of those tools that you only realise how much you need it once you have it. Don't use it enough to justify the fein one but the coltech branded one seems to be holding up just fine. Blades are the pricey bit, cancelled out by time and hassle saved in my opinion.

Prodave - here's what in the blade pack :

Supplied with segment saw blade, E-cut Saw blade, spade, hex key,1pc sandpaper fixing plate, sandpaper for metal and wood, blow moulded case

Supplied with segment saw blade, E-cut Saw blade, spade, hex key,1pc sandpaper fixing plate, sandpaper for metal and wood, blow moulded case
But WHAT is the E-cut blade, and spade?

All I want to know is are either of those a normal plunge cut blade, i.e the flat one about an inch wide.

Shame CPC don't just sell each type of blade individually.
