Hi folks does anybody think training on identifying a customer's requirements for power factor would be of benefit to the industry?

Many years ago you would calculate it now I just let my meter tell me what the power factor is

As for training about power factor isn't that part of becoming an electrician it was 45 years ago when I was at college along with harmonics

Until the day domestic customers are billed in KVAh (which might not be too far away) I doubt there would be any call for PF assessment or correction. It's relevant for industrial and large commercial users and most electricians who work in those fields will be familiar already.
