just done some work for a new builder who ive known a while but he's always used someone else. he was left in the lurch when electrician couldnt finsh job so called on me. hes said he only pays

i supplied all the mats, there were 4 double sockets, 1 fcu, 1 x 3 g light switch, (plus back boxes) 2 outdoor PIR lights and a batten light. i extended a ring in to a new little extension, but cable was surface on outside of building in conduit due to locations. i think the other electrician didnt fancy it as the socket which was right next to new extension was a spur already. i probably used about 20m t&e (2.5) and 10m of 1.5.

So would you charge

On his quote to the customer, it states the price and 'upgrades to your existing installation may be needed at a further cost'

and no sidey

I did have an arrangement with builder for Price per Point . Swings and roundabouts TBH , always made on the deal if there were loads of downlights.

I don't do it anymore because if they hold you up (as happens to us 2nd class citizens) you start to lose out , so I have an agreed hourly rate , if I'm on site I get paid . So when I'm trying to fit the C/U in a norrow passage and they are up and down all day and it takes me 3 times longer , I charge the the time .

No idea how builder quotes for the electrics , I think he does a percentage of the building works TBH.
