I've just come off the phone after a person called me wanting to know if I'd replace a cooker outlet for them as their one is broken? and how much would it cost? The job is 15mins up the road so I said it would probably cost around

Happens all the time mate! People have no idea and think that is expensive. But a plumber can go in and charge

I would have charged that too, but I always tell a customer I will call them back in a couple of minutes after I have called the wholesalers and found the best price I can on the parts. I obviously don

Some callers looking in Yellow Pages think because they are nearby it will be much cheaper , always make a point of saying " I can see you are only up the road from us" .

At least you only priced over phone. worst ones are where you go to price something, maybe give a rough price there and then and the person actually gets offended at the price, ushering you out the house.

maybe if electricity would leak all over the house like water when something goes wrong people would be happy to pay. Tearing down their wall paper and making ceilings fall down! mwah ha ha ha!!
