hi all,

just rewired a house and they say the pv isn't working. even though we havnt touched it, not done any PV work so all help required.

the ac isolator is on and the meter is flashing? how can this not be working?

What makes them think it isn't working?

NOTE: If you kill AC side of a PV install it will (Should) die. No AC no juice. Just done a load in council houses and half them thought they wouldn't have to top meter up. Gutted when we told them, No leccy still means no leccy.

did you tell them that the PV wasnt included?

unless you are MCS I dont think you are allowed to touch it,,

Im assuming the PV is on iscos/REC2 before the consumer unit anyway so it cant be your fault.

and if the meter is moving then its working,

they do realise its winter and has probably been very dull today, it has been round these parts anyway.

Right, 1/ all inverters have a 3 minute start-up time by law 2/ if a crap inverter and you fire up late in day, then given current dull weather it may well not fire up. But if meter is flashing (PV meter) then system is working, or at least trying to.

Do they? the ones we have just recently been fitting had a 30s 'checking' period. That combined with other startup bits can't have exceeded 1min max.

In the event of a 'grid fail' inverter should not re-start for a minimum of 3 mins it's part of the G83 compliance, but quite a few inverters seem to by pass this on initial start-up.

Ah yes that makes more sense. After an AC loss time was 190s. Quick boot only happened if AC was on first.

found fault loose connection in the AC iso... silly PV installers oh and wasnt in the correct terminals

Surprised............................NOT

Many PV installs (around here, anyway) were done by roofers. If you were lucky, they had a "short course domestic installer" with `em........ :run
