I’ve recently wired up a new lighting circuit for the upstairs of my house due to it being dated and having no earth present. I called in an electrician to connect this circuit up to the consumer unit.
However, when a load is added to the circuit the rcb trips out but the mcb stays on.
I’ve removed everything from the circuit minus a single switch and a ceiling rose - again, it only trips when the switch is switched on and there is a bulb in the pendant. I’ve also checked the condition of the cables, all in good order. Both the switch and the rose are definitely wired correctly - the only thing I can think of is the electrician missing something within the consumer unit?
I’ve taken a look behind the cover of the consumer unit and wouldn’t be brave enough (or stupid enough) to touch anything but shouldn’t this mcb be connected to the busbar coming out of the rcb? (See attached photo) I’ve circled all cables/mcb related to the new circuit.
Any replies/help would be greatly appreciated as I’m currently without lighting upstairs
Thanks!
