just to add Iv'e cut em shorter as well in the past...
But I just make sure that should the need arise there is enough length left there so the RCBO could be used in any of the CU positions.
(incase there was some obscure reason that the CU needed re-arranging!)
I always figure the leads could be extended with crimping if it really came to it, though I will leave a little excess if the neutral bar is directly above the RCBO so as not to shorten the lead to next to nothing.
