hello,

just wanted to know what you all thought of passing a property even though there is not any RCD protection?

would you advise on upgrading the the CU or just

yes for a landlord.

i know it depends on stud walls ect n things like that.

but what are your general thoughts on upgrading the cu

age of installation 15th edition

even if it required a RCD for stud walls ect surly a C2 ?

Right.

Its for a landlord - therefore it has tenants - yes?

How does the landlord fulfill his "duty of care"?. Further - how do you fulfill yours?

My thoughts are that, if it needs one, and / or should be fitted with one.........then why would you try to avoid having one?

because then they say "well i have had others tested and they didnt say i had to have an rcd" i personally think all rented properties require rcds

OK, I agree with KME, IMHO ALL rented properties require RCD protection, and a single or dual RCD unit is not adequate again IMHO.

If you suspect that the Landlord will go down that route, then use the ESC BPG as your reasoning and justification for requiring the RCD, that way it is not "YOUR" opinion it is that of the ESC.

Also, there is a free download of Landlords guidance there too, that may open their eyes!   ]:)

Every inspector is different - and some things will ALWAYS be a matter of individual interpretation.

If YOU are the inspector - its YOUR name on the bottom - so its YOUR call mate.

I personally don`t care what anyone else does, or does not do - I advise on MY opinion, on a given day, for a given set of circumstances. There will always be someone who says "I wouldn`t do that." - but they aren`t the one actually DOING it ;)

The joys of inspecting, mate.
