EATON WYLEX VOLEX MEM and a few others that escape my memory just now, are all interchangeable,

the only limitation is if there is enough height inside the CU ,

RCBOs are considerably taller than MCBs.

Good point. For example, with the slightly older Wylex NS boards Rcbo's don't fit in ways 1,2,3 & 4 because the neutral bar is in the way but they do fit in ways 5 upwards

PS, Eaton are identical to Memera

I can see that it's possible to get hold of the existing RCD on the board (an AD80HE) - if a sparky got one of those, could that be used to protect the other circuits?

I'm just curious as to how it works (not, I hasten to add, because I intend to try it myself - I am just nosy)

Sorry to drop on the parade guys but, it is no longer acceptable to mix or cross match MCB's RCD's etc. in a board, unless they are all of the same maker, that is board, and all the protective devices.

The manufacturers have issued a joint declaration.

As we have to follow manufacturers instructions to comply with 7671 it is no longer acceptable to mix & match.

Don't shoot the messenger.

BTW, johnnyb1985, welcome to the forum, glad you want to do things right, refreshing to hear.

I think that there a a few members around your neck of the woods.

Thanks Sidewinder - I think I should be able to get an electrician to find an RCD. There is *already* an RCD in the board, and I think I've seen it available online, so presumably an electrician could get hold of a second one and install it to protect my currently unprotected circuits

Of course, this is presuming that I've read my installation certificate correctly...

I made a post about that a week or so ago, it may have been in the ;) :innocent bit under NICEIC assessment

Ok, i was correct earlier that the Memera AD consumer units use Memshield2 'pod' conversions for RCBO's. These are probably the most expensive RCBO'S around and they are now obsolete as the Memshield 3 is now out and is not compatible. They are however Wylex compatible and you can get numerous cheap RCBO replacements, a forum sponsor sells some for around
