Agree somewhat with Killerwatt and special location - warranty is a waste of time.

As for the memory then I disagree with Killerwatt 4 G of memory is good and usable no matter what operating system you use (within reason). 64 bit OS just use it to its best.

If i was going to buy a machine today then I would pay the extra for 4G even though today 2G is fine tomorrows applications it will be slow. (My first computer had 1K RAM and that was cutting edge)!

Still can't understand anyone paying that much though go to Curries and Tescos and see what they've got. We are a software company and we rairly pay over

Apache, hope this helps.

Goods sold in the sales must still comply with the Sales of Goods Act legislation.

The fact that goods are being sold at a reduced price does not place any less responsibility on the seller to make sure that the products are:

Of satisfactory quality

Correspond with their description

Are fit for their particular purpose.

This is the case unless the item is being sold at a reduced rate because it has a defect or fault. By default, 32bit versions of Windows only recognise a maximum of 2GB of RAM. You can circumvent this with PAE, although the best it will recognise is 3.12GB depending on how many hardware devices are installed.

If too many devices exist, it can drop to less than 3GB depending on hardware configuration.

dunno TBH Apache,

but if you do get a good new shiney laptop and you want to take some milk bottle tops and wooly mitts for your old one let me know. couldnt be any worse than what I have in the garage now.

BTW, I have a DELL inspiron 1300 cheapo (3+yrs) that has been all over the place with me and only thing broke is the catch on the lid. turns out the problem with my DVD was some filter I had turned off somehow. Blushing

wpould recommend DELL for abuse anyhow. ]:)

I was watching an " Independent Test" of these, Last Week.

They came out on top of Toshiba and other well known brand, the name has escaped me. :_| ....

.... Anyway, the Acer Aspire came out on top with a 10 out of 10.

Only just saw your earlier post about when the Dell prices went up...

I have noticed they often go up in the run-up to Christmas!!! :(

then drop back down in the New year sales!! :D

three(or four?) years ago we were getting a laptop for our eldest Dec/Jan time

we spec'd it all up during December...

but then purchased between Christmas & New year...

For the same price that we were going to get just the laptop..

we got Laptop/printer & carry case!!! :D ;)
