Hi,

I recently bought a hand held machine in the US which needs to run at 110v and 60hz. I think I need a step down transformer from 230v to 110v and I can find these ok.  However, I am struggling to find an economical way of running the motor at 60hz. It is important that it runs at the correct frequency.

I would be really grateful if anyone can tell me if there are any converters that are cost effective or if there is another way of running the machine?  It needs to have at least 200 watts.

I am not technical at all so please be patient with me!

what exactly are you trying to power? if you give a motor 50hz instead of 60hz it will work, but will be 1/6th slower

if you really need it at 60hz, then you could use an inverter drive set to 60hz?

But giving a 60Hz motor only 50 Hz and it could overheat, even at the correct voltage.

I'll second the question, what is the item?

You could import a 110V 60Hz inverter, but that could be as much as the item you are trying to run.

I reckon it's a Hitachi Magic Wand...............Just wondering what the volt drop would be across the pond? :coat

use a smaller sized cable, that will help increase the VD, but shouldnt overheat being water cooled

the fish may be cooked ready to eat after a short time though
