Hi all

ive recently started a new job and a number of the machines have servo motors (siemens etc) on them

i've not come across them before and was wondering if some kind person could give me a run down on them

i.e. how they work, what their construction is (i.e windings and how many), how to fault find them etc

i would be most gratefull, better to make myself look an idiot here than at work!!

As I remember they are a type of stepper motor. They move in a controlled arc (i.e. each 'step' is 6 degrees), they are used in robotics a lot.

A bit about them is here on Wiki.
