Hi,

Say if a shower has been removed from a bathroom and there is 10mm cable which is not being used anymore. Is it ok (a bit rough) but is it ok to run this cable into a suitable enclosure (Junction box)(which is accessible) and use this feed for a shower pump (ie, into FCU) then to pump instead of running a new cable to bathroom. Obviously swap breaker to 6A as this aint gonna draw much. I know the 10mm cable is well overkill but is this gonna cause any problems.

Thanks in advance.

Not at all...Applaud Smiley:D

perfectly sensible approach to utilise resources that are already there..

1/ Nice and green (recycle) approach.

2/ Cheaper for customer.

The only problem you get is if you try using cables that are TOO small!

you can never have a c.s.a that is too large for a circuit.

the pump circuit will just have a very nice low R1+R2 & thus Zs! ;)

I would just make sure you put some clearly identifiable labels detail the new use of the circuit! :) :x

out of interest what jb size would u have to fit a 60 amp to match the cable or just one big enough to fit the cable and match the mcb

I would have thought a 30A JB would be ok as the pump would not draw more than a few amps but the 10mm cable wont go in a 30A JB so would have to use one that the 10mm can be terminated into.

1 More Question tho: The JB would have 10mm going in and 1.5mm going to the pumps FCU. Looks bit dodgy...is that ok?

Cheers

the only thing I can think of is will it terminate properly can u use something with separate terminals or I guess get a 60 amp jb

I've done the same thing many a time, in my own house the 2 old shower feeds now do the lighting in one half of the upstairs and the sockets for the electronics ion the loft.

Adaptable box and connectors of some sort.
