............I don't like the idea of soaking a consumer unit with WD40 or the like so thats why I was thinking of "painting" something like WD40 onto the threads.... I might try a micro torch
Soaking in some kinda release agent or lubricant works much better if you can get the screw and the surrounding area nice and hot first, that way when you spray on the lubricant it gets sucked in as the spray cools the area. Also the expansion and contraction with the heating helps break the bond that the corrosion has formed. Might not be practical in your instance, otherwise it takes lots of time to soak in naturally.

IIRC its a 5 mod SQd SQO board....

I've been on the phone to the landlord today,,, he wants me to do the work (I'm known in the council offices) but he doesn't really want to pay my rates,,,, he thought that he might get away with £200 per flat... the parts for the ground floor flat are £170 alone :eek:

and that's without any extras that might need doing (i.e. having to rewire a circuit if I have to)
