Passed testing course November 2009. I have completed several tests but still need more experience. I have already got the following publications Guidance Note 3, Onsite Guide & Guide to building regulations.

I have seen the snags & solutions book advertised & wondered if it was worth buying.

Can anyone advise.

I have also posted previous about gaining further experience can anyone help, free labour.

Ive got a few of the snags and solutions nic books and didnt really find them that useful. The Chris Kircher book on Inspection & Testing is highly recommended tho mate. Cant you get them out the library and have a butchers and if you like then buy them. I read them once and havent read them since whereas others keep getting re read like the Chris Kircher book. HTH

matty looks like a review from you could be helpfull. I am sure similar questions could be asked.

Thanks for the reply I have never heard of the publication you mention which is why the reviews section can be so helpfull

I have the book I think matty's referring to here. It's the : Practical guide to inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations by Christopher Kitcher. I have found this book a useful point of reference as it does have questions you can answer too and it fully covers the syllabus of C&G2391-01. I ordered mine from a well known online place that sells books!!! Can we mention names? If to help the members get copies for themselves at reasonable prices..

outside links are always welcome if they are specific to the electrical trade, we even have a usefull links section.

Manator, may I add the link into the forum's Amazon shop, that gives the forum a small payback at no additional charge to the customer.

The book mentioned is in the list!

The snags and solutions books that I've seen were rather simplistic and I felt they didn't really offer solutions, just referals to relevant regulations.

I'd also recommend you get a copy of BS7671 (you don't mention that you've got one).

There are several Snags & Solution books, so make sure if you do buy, get the most recent 17th Ed.

I have several of Christopher Kitcher books and I must say that they are all very good and informative. Again there are two versions of the I&T book.

Here are some links:

While we are on the subject, this one from Christopher Kitcher is also a good read:-
