Solar PV Connection to Consumer Unit

Hi, I'm installing a 4.2kw solar system on outbuildings near house. I'm doing most of the work myself and getting an electrician to connect up. I have a secondary consumer unit in my garage near to where the solar array will be: this is connected to the main consumer unit at the far side of the house by 10mm armoured cable. My question is, can I connect the inverter to this consumer unit and will it be able to serve all the main unit. My thoughts are that it can but just wanting to check with the pros.

sounds fine, but you need to check the garage supply is not sharing an RCD with any other circuit in the main board.

Thanks Binky, that's awesome! The additional CU was installed for a small rear extension, which hasn't yet materialised. Only thing its got is wiring for a summerhouse. I can carry on with my wiring plans now!

Just don’t forget this falls under part P and some DNOs require a spark to provide certification and their form signed ….
