right guys i have a project where by i have a smoke machine and a light to sound scontrolled green and red 3d laser light unit, (part of the chrimbo display ;)

now what i was wondering was as the laser light has a built in micorphone and for the sound to light part to work a speaker would need to be by the laser outside blarring music of timewarp not good for the neighbours :^O i wondered if i could remove that built in microphone and install a phono socket where the speaker wire then plug directly into the microphone cable and the sound will not travel externally but through the cable

to the laser, would this work

In principal it could work. Microphone may be an electret type which has a DC bias on it - so suggest connecting to the phono via a capacitor (suggest1-10 mfd). Also microphone signal is very small - so use a pot to reduce the signal from the phono socket - suggest a 100k pot/preset.

No guarantees - but good luck!
