Installed by a 'compressor engineer'. He also forgot to put the board blanks for the entire LHS, all 7 unused ways are now open. but at least he put a label to say what the newly installed MCB was for. unfortunately, its about the length of 5 MCB's, so covers the space above & below the MCB

Mute point, the braid is not actually suitable as an earth/cpc, so it does not require connection on that basis.

YES 10000% it's a rough job, I 1000% agree.

However, I have never been able to find a definitive statute law reason to connect the braid, nor one under BS7671 that explicitly requires the braid of an SY to be earthed at either end, let alone the source.

I would try to interpret several, and I would argue all the way to the highest court in the land my beliefs with 1000% conviction, but, unfortunately there is no explicit defined requirement.

You may well be able to imply it from more than one or more regs, which is where I am coming from, but, there is no explicit requirement based on the braid of an SY.

More is the shame.
