Day one piccys of my latest rewire, this is a victorian property thats undergoing a full refurb.

So if I remember my phone I'll post up more pics during the rewire...........

Old cu's & meter under stairs, the service cable loops to another meter & 3 more cu's located in a masive extension at rear of property.

New cu on oposite wall from meter. Nice access under floor.

Dining room ceiling pulled down to reveal a novel use for metal capping.

Also loads of rat & mice teeth marks on pretty much all the old cabling.

Niceee Mate.

Nice mug on top of the CU too. :p

I was concerned about the mug on top of the CU as well! Is that standard practice? Nice photos M107, please do keep us updated.

Doc H.

Nice pictures M107 , do you think the capping was some ones interpretation of the regs OSG pg 59 7.3.1 iii be enclosed in earth steel conduit or trunking ! ! !

ROTFWL ROTFWL ROTFWL

Did they really need to take an 8" chunk out of the joists for 2x2.5's? Or is that for expansion just in case there's thermal insulation placed over it later?

I have that mug M107, but not had a cuppa whilst doing a ccu change hehe.

Looks lovely!May I just ask how you find the Ryobi One+ radio? I was thinking of getting one :D
The drill gave up & wasnt upto much anyway so thats been binned long ago but the radio is spot on, a fully charged battery lasts 2-3 days, IP rated mines been knocked into a water filled trench, fully submerged, pulled out & still works no problems....only down side is it's only FM so no 5 live for footy on a saturday.

As for the job....every sparks nightmare, left site get home relaxing with a pint & phone rings.... "Hi we are wondering, did you see the cat indoors today"..............thats right one is under the floor ROTFWL .

Time for tea now so back laters.

As a side note I was questioned by the customer ( not nastily more quizically) as to why I'd used flex to first fix external lighting? apparently it's illegal according to the DI plumber..........my reply is as follows.

  1. nothing wrong with flex, unorthodox but not illegal
  2. It's not flex cable it's white FP200 (building is white so grey t/e would look ****e).
  3. I know next to sod all about plumbing so dont ask me to question the plumbers work or materials.

I quite like the old lights!

I have a Ryobi drill that I don't reckon much too, got it as a set with the impact driver and that is excellent. Might have to get one of the radios. Thanks :D

They are a different breed will use a bit of grey soil pipe when other pipework is black just to be awkward. I don't mind doing up old lights but usually give them a bit of paint if they are worth it. Nice job so far M.

Strangle with FP\smack up side of head with length of copper as neccesary.

The re-wired handmade old wall lights.

Maintained EM at fire escape

Couple of sockets.

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j293/gazjothomas/sockets.jpg

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j293/gazjothomas/4mmradial.jpg

The sockets are 4mm radials on 20amp 60898 due to ground floor walls being insulated with celotex then boarded.

All that boarding is comming off & going to be dot & dabbed upstairs.

Lighting circuits.

Out with the old new going in

The next area for re-wire when they start the building work.

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j293/gazjothomas/officeservicehed.jpg

That little lot supplies the old office & the utillity plus cooker & the storage heaters & immersion.

Reason to not stick hands under floor boards.

Rats had munched all the old cables, this is the cooker cable.

I would agree with that got a nasty belt on a job in henly after vermin had chewed through cables. Looks a big job there M.
