Surely im not the only one who leaves something in pocket when i get home, put it on desk ready to go to van the next day, but never does?

so far on my desk i have

6 rolls of tape at various lengths (some almost new, some almost used) and various colours

about 30 screws

about 10 socket bolts

silicone grease spray

few red wall plugs

2x banjo's

2x 2 way push fit, 3x 4 way

handful of Ikea pencils

shock cord

pozi driver (must remember to take that with me tomorrow)

few lengths of terminal block

duct tape

microswitch from a shower

piranha nut

13a plug

and there is probably more if i look a bit harder

Sounds like my pockets/home.Always getting grief from the wife for bits ending up in the washing machine etc

I thought you were going to say stuff you have bought home from a job.

For me, it's firewood. Always on the lookout for wood for the woodburner, so if I see someone with a tree down, or even fallen branches, I offer to come back with my trailer and chainsaw and dispose of it.

I thought I was bad Andy but your list beats mine

Socket tester

2 boxes of 20mm netting staples

tube of copper slip

pack of Makita torsion bits ( one missing)

tape measure

legnth of terminal block

stanley knife

2 x good size bolts for unknown application, but I do remember ordering them

and the metal pencil sharpener that Mrs Flup angrily threw back at me after i left it in my pocket and it went thru the wash. Soon, it will find its way back into my pocket and back into the wash, just one more run thru its perpetual cycle :)

Wow how do you lads keep your pants up with all that in your pockets :) ) my belt is giving up with what's in mine at the end of a day

I bet you like a pallet then? :slap I've a garage full of "that'll come in useful one day!".

I have a drawer full of the above bits and pieces.
I have a draw like that, Mrs107 calls it the "ifit's draw" because when i'm looking for something she used to say "If it's anywhere it'll be in the draw" now she just say's "if it's draw"

I bought a girl back once from the launderette, moved in next day and we were still together 5 years later.

Right.....

I sense this thread is working in two dimensions..

1/ the stuff that is work related that you failed to put back in the proper tool box / tote, and has now taken up residence on your office desk..

and

2/ the best stuff you have acquired and/or brought back from jobs, legitimately or other wise...

I will answer both...

although I have been trying to get my desk a bit clearer recently!

1/ I have just photoed all the bits on my desk that are NOT legitimate office stuff.

{e.g. pens, staples, calculator, post-it notes, general paperwork etc..}

So I have got..

2 x Dimmer modules swapped on a job last Friday.. 1 is good & 1 is faulty.... Didn't note which is which when I swapped them over!!!!

Eye glass.

Jubilee hose clip

Various washers

Broken door catch off my tumble drier

TV co-ax plug with some bits missing.

a 5cent piece I was given in change as a penny!!!

a rubber plug/bung for something that I don't know what!

A money bag with a selection of small screws & cup washers, from a Job!

A bicycle multi tool and a spoke key!

& a glass of part drunk lager!

Part of my desk tonight....

2/ The best thing I have brought back from a job is a sit-on Kayak....

I was given it by a guy I was fitting an alarm for....

The job was all quoted and paid for in full..

but he also had this Kayak in his house he wanted to get rid off because he had some back problems..

So here is my youngest son helping my middle daughter to get to a suitable depth so she can get the paddles in an go out to sea!

KAYAK.jpg

How much is that worth.......

To me & Mrs SL it is a darn sight more than the actual second-hand value of the Kayak!!!!!

I knew a hotel engineer who filled a tea chest with

bits and pieces. He went to work for a long time in

a Wakefield hotel and when he retired the chest was

empty.
