Well, on a job 30 years ago Millionaire client had bought her son a scale model ride on/in Rolls Royce Corniche from either Harrods or Hamleys, I jokingly said 'when he gets sick ofit in a couple of months don't bin coz I would like it for my son/daughter'.

Working there 2 years later she said 'Is your Van empty? as you can take the Roller now!'...was my van empty? it was 30 seconds later. My 3 children used it for years, then it went into the garage. Now I am going to resurrect it for my 2 grandaughters. It is looking a bit sorry now, needs new 12V 6AH batteries and a clean. I think the windscreen has gone and one of the tail lights, other than that it looks fine [it is at back of garage, I can see it but cannot reach it!!!....... :coat

Kerching, that is a great story.

Busy trying to think if I have brought anything unusal home except for the usual tape, screws term block etc. mmmmm

When I was a single I use to bring home an evening meal for myself every night from the works canteen. Don't think my cooker was on for about 5 years. Apart from that my stuff sounds positively boring.

This lass's house was fricking huge; swimming pool, 3 bed granny flat in the grounds, paddock etc. She gave me the 'old lounge' carpet. It was enough to do my Hall, stairs, landing, dining room and one bedroom! and it is still down!!!!!......... :coat

On the theme of 'pocket residue'...last nights haul included

3 sharpies

7 wagos

various screws

4 super grommets

terminal driver

handful of plaster dust/bits/sh!te

Piece of lath from a ceiling

broken dewalt screwdriver bit

2 rolls of tape

plastic shark

allen......................... :coat

There was me thinking "She gave me the 'old lounge' carpet" was a euphemism! I mean......she gave you a Rolls Royce! :)

Phwoar!! the old lounge carpet eh? you lucky devil! :slap
Allow me to expand a little.....it was the carpet from the 'Old Lounge' and it was about 2 months old!...she just fell out with the colour of it!

Bless her, she changed her mind like I change my toolboxes!!! I particularly liked it when she 're-did' her daughters bedroom. All furniture was custom/ cabinet maker [not joiner] made, hand painted, porcelain handles etc. She binned it straight into my Van......... :coat

I'll start a little thread on it in Your Pictures so it doesn't detract too much from this thread!

My thoughts exactly, must be quite 'torquey' to move 4 kids at that speed. Pensioners Mobility Scooter?F impressive though.....:worship

Like Steps I brought a dishwasher home of a job once, on refurbs most stuff goes in the skip but as this had been serviced yearly I brought it home. It sat in the shed for a while as we didn't have space in the kitchen and as my brothers had broke I let him have it for forty pound. I wa not popular as soon after we had space in the kitchen. Anyway another one came up on another job so my missus was well happy when I brought it home.

Brought a Dyson upright home from a skip on another job now this was almost perfect just needed a couple of bits doing to it it lasted us for about three years.

am I missing something here? :|
No, Steps, you are not. You will remember the size

of the old tea chests beloved of the home moving teams.

Prior to his start at the hotel, he had a tea chest full of

bits and pieces; a testimony to his diligence at throwing

nothing away.

When he retired that same chest was empty.

ah, makes more sense to me now, :D

I think that a lot of people would be guilty of this considering the lot of things that are being brought home, intentionally or by accident and people forget just how you would make them be.

I have not kept track of what I have done so but I have always been fond of duct tapes which I think are really cool pieces.
