I use a computer at the church for projecting song lyrics etc and playing video clips. Recently someone responded to a prompt to upgrade the Adobe Flash player and allowed the new one to install. Since then every time you try and play a video the screen is split in 2 horizontally (like 2 player mode in an arcade game)

Very annoying. Cant seem to re install the old one. I did but then youtube etc wont play on it!

The PC is a desktop system running XP

Any ideas?

are you running a 64bit system.?

adobe did have a problem for a while with some configurations of 64 bit systems, Im not sure if it is totally sorted yet.

Hi rev,

I'm of the opinion the majority of this forum are in the pocket of Apple!

If you PM with your email I'll reply and you can send me the actual file that's causing the problems.

Then I'll be able to give you the real reason why this is happening.

Just a simple question first - Can you confirm what program are you using to design the content in?

Thanks. All I want to do is be able to show youtube, or similar short videos to illustrate points during talks. I used to be able to do it but someone updated adobe flashplayer and since then it has a 'split screen effect' ie one above the other with a green line in between. Its like using PS2 in 2 player mode - same video showing in 2 smaller screens one above the other.

So when AVS says download flash player just agree with it and download it.

All this means is that the content you are downloading contains flash.

Which begs the question how are you downloading the video?

I think what you may be doing is downloading and replaying the link and not the actual video.

Perhaps you'd be better going here and down loading this tool which then enables you to download(capture) the actual video for replaying in any media player.

DownloadHelper - Media download Firefox extension

This is a firefox addin tool and is well recommended by me.

Don't know if anyone else uses it on the forum?

This time its stupid adobe reader. I had a business card and wanted to change the phone number but couldnt as its a PDF. Went online and downloaded a programme that was supposed to let me edit PDFs and all its done is change my search engine to Babylon whatever that is. I am using firefox. Anyone know how to change it back?

Thanks

Thanks - I emailed it to my son and he edited it for me. The thing is 1 - I cant remove the FTPDF editor programme I downloaded. I tried the add remove programmes and when you press the change/remove button nothing happens.

The other thing is that when I open up firefox to browse I get google. Now I get something called babylon. I didnt ask for it to install itself and take over and I want rid!

OK back to the church computer. Just been there and updated XP and installed all the updates SP3 etc windows media player etc etc. Turned on youtube and was prompted I needed to upgrade flashplayer which I did for the 20th time. Yes its still in 2 player mode! aarrrrrrrgh! surely in this day and age there must be an answer?
