Why am I not surprised to see this thread? I even get mention.

Still, not one person has yet to give me a valid scientific reason to use three core when two core will do either here or on the SF forum.

There is no reason. It's called personal choice.

Also when you go to the Trade Counter and ask for 2-core 1.5mm SWA and they say 'Ohhhh.... Haven't got that in stock at the moment. We've got some 3-core though.', you use it because the client wants the job done today not next week.

If someone wants to buy a over-spec'ed piece of wire then let 'em. It's not going to be against Regs now is it?

Not very enviromentally freindly, mind.
True..... However in years to come Sparkies will thank those who did wire in three core as they will get more money at the scrap yard! :^O

So is :

Driving a car...

Having every electrical appliance under the Sun (in your home)..

Smoking..

Using plastic shopping bags, everytime you go to the supermarket..

Throwing 30% of your annual food shopping into the dustbin..

Not really a valid argument.

:)

It may not be "Environmentally Friendly" ; however, as has been posted previously; Suppliers are tending to not keep stock of 2 core SWA. So what would YOU do? Put the job off until they CAN get you some; or buy the 3 core, and strip 1 out to use as a single??

(make sure you remove the black one! Steptoe doesn`t like Black `uns) :^O

And, to address the Environment issue; if that is the cable we are being led toward by wholesale supply, that is the cable we have to use.

Deal with it! ;) :D
