SWA 2 or 3 core

It may not be "Environmentally Friendly" ; however, as has been posted previously; Suppliers are tending to not keep stock of 2 core SWA. So what would YOU do? Put the job off until they CAN get you some; or buy the 3 core, and strip 1 out to use as a single??(make sure you remove the black one! Steptoe doesn`t like Black `uns) :^O

And, to address the Environment issue; if that is the cable we are being led toward by wholesale supply, that is the cable we have to use.

I don't drive. I don't smoke. I recycle plastic bags. We give our waste food to the composter.

I think using three core just for the sake of it is not a valid argument.

I have still yet to hear a valid argument to use three core when two will do.

I don't have a proble with that at all.

what I DO have a problem with is this idea that 3 core is the ONLY option. the default option.

quite clearly it is not. And why people believe that it is quite beyond me.

It's the same thing as believing that any alterations or additions to any wiring system do not have to be done to the 17th, when quite clearly they do.

My thoughts

All depends what swa is being used for.

For outside sockets and lighting I would use 3 core as it is simpler to work with.

If it is a seperate supply to another building I use 2 core swa as for most supplies this is adequate.

But clearly from your comments, you are 'saving the planet' and making a contribution as such.

To be honest you you haven't on this forum. Not everyone here reads SF.
