We always called it Monkey Muck, don't know why.

I've put 25mm and 35mm 4 Core straight through drilling at 40ish degree angle, and hitting it with a lump hammer a few times  :innocent

We've done the same with 3 core 25mm, drilled up from outside at 45 ish degrees, cable follows inside and outside quite nice. We even got the steel capping on without any problem.
