Just remember if you are doing RA’s as part of your design, make sure that your insurance covers that aspect of your work.

A lot of “normal” electrical contractor policies won’t.

For industrial or commercial work, this RA it down to the “Duty Holder” for the premise under EAWR.

If, you as a contractor do the RA, then you provide that as a consultant, & you need to be sure that you are covered, otherwise if things go wrong, it’s you that will be sought out.

would that be covered by Indemnity Insurance?
Only if you have specifically included it by telling them that you are going to be doing it, and you have provided evidence of competence, or not to allow them to evaluate the premium as to whether you are competent to give that advice or not.

"informative"

Yet some BS references suggest we should be doing them ................. and I doubt many people realise the impacts of doing them and getting them wrong!

If you look at BS7671, you will also see “normative” & “informative” appendices,

Normative appendices have as much relevance as the main part of the standard.

That is another thing that many miss!

That’s a pain in the bum proving qualifications. I had to gain an Associateship to the Royal Photographic Society to get PI insurance, PL was no problem.

ARPS is one down to a fellowship.
