is the sub board at source also then?
no, the sub board is about 2 mtrs away in diff room.
Given the info. you`ve provided, the answer is YES, it is "at the origin" - electrically speaking, rather than physically mate.

What is the supply to the sub-board, and how is it routed?

I concur with Albert r.e. the main bond issue - Has the Ra been verified? ( and what is the result?)

I`ll stick my neck out, and say that there is zero fault protection....to be honest, I would (and have) issued an EDN under these circumstances.

OH!

if you don't mind me asking what do you class as adequate protection??
Specifics depend on installation methods; but 100mA time delay, and a couple of 30mA RCDs, plus verification of Ra, and provision of main bonding at a minimum

I haven't done any tests on property, just pointed out what i cud see wen i went rnd.

The supply is via 16mm T&E surface mounted to sub board, then cables buried in wall to cooker, lights & sockets.

In terms of main board, ie 30mA rcd main switch with x8 mcb's, can you have main switch & dual rcd or do you have to have time delay 100mA rcd main switch up front??

cheers

So long as all circuits have RCD protection then main switch and 2 or more RCDs is ok

Remember (generally) you'll need 30mA for burried cables and socket outlets, and 100mA for protection against fire;))
