A customer was asking about some floodlights for his garden ,   he mentioned 500w    TH  floods ,, I said you want some LED floods with PIRs.     He was looking at the Screwfix web page  on his I/pad...I/phone ..Tablet thing  that you talk to .   He said  " Oh I don't know anything about what you said ,   best if you find them on here "  Passes  his Pad/phone thing .....I speak to the damn thing, all to no avail .......  the bloke takes it back saying it doesn't understand your  accent   !!! :(

No good  Andy buying one  then   :slap

I picked it up from watching auf weidershehen, pet

Even though I'm young(ish) I sometimes struggle with smart phones and tablets, and prefer to use an actual PC to do work on, sometimes I find the user interface works in strange ways and the screen is just too small (The PC does have dual screens though, and everyone says that must be weird to use - but its not... it makes doing real work so much easier... or at least I can watch music videos while browsing this forum....)

Its odd, the other half laughs at me for being "lettuced with phones", but I'm normally pretty good with computers, have built them from components, installed windows, done visual basic programming, bit of html, bit of PHP mysql, etc.... but I struggle with smart phones!

I'm reminded of Douglas Adams:

“I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.”

I'm 30 and I feel that I've been slowly sliding from point 2 to 3 for the last five years at least, I'll probably end up there before 35!

I used to go out with a lass from Darras Hall in Ponteland...don't know what the place is like now but back then it was F posh with a very toned down Geordie accent

what does a Geordie lass use for protection whilst making love?

Bus shelter

what does a Geordie lass put on when it gets cold?

more glitter

My Mrs originates from Jesmond, though does not have much of an accent left. Still have a few relatives in the area, now moved out of town into the Tyne valley

It still is , although it has been diluted a bit .

It is/was the home to a lot of footballers , surgeons and the like.

One of the few places I was ever bumped for payment. A builder (Glazing) thatwas goin bust but just kept it to himself and let us chip away .

Jesmond is still affluent , but is a large student accomodation area-  there are no take-aways there  , an old by law that they still enforce .
