I have been doing some refurb work on a house that someone has bought to let, on one of the local council estates. Nothing unusual there.

The owner is spending a fortune on the place (far more than it deserves imho) including a nice new fence around the unusually large garden.

On Friday the owner turns up, she had forgot to latch the padlock on the gate to the back garden. The padlock was gone.  On Monday she turns up with a shiny new padlock, only to find someone has unscrewed and removed the gate latch.  I wonder how long before the gate has gone?

I shan't be leaving any tools or materials there as nicking the padlock and means to lock the gate smells to me of someone casing the joint to break into it.

Funny that, i put a bracket on a touch screen monitor and left it for a half an hour. I went back to screw the bracket to the test rig and it had mysteriously disappeared. I'm not too concerned either someone is messing about or else the company is going to have to buy a new one. I have a suspicion it was taken by a supervisor.

Whilst at Uni back in the 70s my mate had a Moskvitch Estate......sort of 4 wheeled Soviet Tank

someone broke into it and stole the steering wheel lock

prob Worth more than the car anyway
I can't work out what's worse? Leaving the vehicle behind or stealing something that is designed as a security aid and isn't effective at stopping someone stealing a vehicle? :C

Handle on dashboard to wind a blind across the rad to stop snow build up

full toolkit incl, socket set, tyre pump, lead light.

socket under bonnet for lead light also, socket in boot

went to Prestwich auto spares for an oil filter.  "Bring it in and I will match it, I have every filter you can think of"

screwdriver through filter, took it in to him...."nope, sorry, never seen one like"

tin snips, baked bean can, old inner tube.......oil filter repaired and stayed like that for two years until he sold it

Wow that was an advanced vehicle of its time! So advanced no one had seen an oil filter quite like it....

dont have that problem these days as most cars share parts with several others!

my old charge hand had a Moskvitch, it had about 50mm insulation in the door panels all you needed to fix one was an 17mm spanner and two lumps of wood
