What is the wind like where you are??? Terrible here in Newport, frightening to be honest, but then i am 200 foot up, half mile inland from the coast.

Its quite bad up here in North Wales... Only an hour ago I drove over some fallen telephone lines.... I'm sure there's going to be loads of damage done tonight

I drove up from Heathrow this morning to Trowbridge, then finally up the M5 back up north, the rain and wind was terrible. Its blowing a gale just now and there are some very large trees near my house that I constantly watch in high winds.

Thelwall viaduct closed due to the wind. that's the first time I have heard that happen.

Wind here in south wales has dropped a lot in the last few hours. At 2 or 3 this afternoon there were some terrible prolonged gusts. I have known worse, mind you, but still awful. The worst wind here is always at night, say about 2, 3, 4, in the morning, absolutely frightening sometimes. Had a lot of houses here struck by lightning over the years. One across the road had a whole corner of the upstairs blown off while the occupant was in that bedroom. They just said there was a big bang and all bricks dropped round them and they could see the sky!!!!

I measured 70kph in central London earlier today (pc linked anemometer I put on the building is at 98m above sea level). Forecast was for just over the 100kph mark at circa 3pm today. Have left it logging so will have a look tomorrow what it got up today.
Most I've seen there is 98kph & I've been secretly wanting to see it hit 3 figures!

It has just started hail stoning here really badly!
started getting bit windy up here now

Well if you look at PDs map, the lines over my house ( north west coast) you can just see my fence panels blowing away.
Also just had to board up the leaded light (1926..... Original ) window on my half landing stairway to stop it blowing in. It was moving in and out by about 2"!

When i got home tonight i saw i now have a couple of a neighbours shirts nestling in a shrub in my garden.
sounds more like even the shrubs down south dont want to get cold and need wrapped up

Its been wet and windy all day apart from a couple of hours.
