get a call from an asian sounding fella. He's just fitting out a new shop in Plymouth, part of  a new estate. Needs leccy on urgently so air-con guys can do their stuff, and certs for works - ehhh.

Get to site, he only wants me to wire the meter tails straight from DB into service head - no meter. So i asked him where the electricians who wired the shop are? Back in Sri-Lanka he says. Have a nice day says I :red card

He's going to be well chuffed when he finds once you have chosen your electricity supplier it can take several weeks before they come and fit your meter.

He won't worry at all, he will just find someone to connect the board to the head and get on with it, ignoring the criminal offences being committed.

This split up electricity supply industry is a pain.

I had to be be in attendance at a small shop wired by our firm a year previously as the head office was changing the supplier for this store to match all their others, this required that a metering chap attended to swap the meter, as it was a 100A whole current meter this required that it be done at 6am in the morning before opening, this was duly arranged, the chap turned up and swapped the meter.... for one of exactly the same make and model, it just happened to be owned by a different firm, it seemed that the right paperwork wasn't in place to simply transfer ownership of the one already installed!
