Hi Ianmacd,

You say, [in relation to the funny wiring] "Its an old practise. Just because it hasn't been done for years doesn't mean to say you won't still come across it."

Can you try to explain; what is the purpose to the way this wiring is, why would it have been done like this? I have no idea at all, but i would like to learn [just in case i see anything similar]

Would it have been someone trying to be clever, or is there a proper reason for it???

Hi guys. Thanks for the comments. Ian the MET is dirty, no damage. Matt thanks for the specs calculations. Only one point: as PC noted - for 230V the figure is 9.9kW ( from Mira website ) so the design current is 43A. There are some more pics comming soon.
