some of the faults from todays PIR

most of the problems were carried out recently by a handyman. whilst writing report, i found a job list for him - every item on there was also on defect list :red card headbang .

lighting cable extended (switch is same)

turn the switch on and this is live....

switched moved to other side. cable now not in safe zone. and earth joined by twisting together. the L & SL is extended in 3 core flex with earth removed. the earth is a 1mm solid with sleeving over it....

3x rooms had new sockets installed. these were all installed as spur from spur. by the looks of it, he also cut a cable short and joined it

plugged tester into a socket to get Zs and says no neutral. spur fed from here

this is for the light (further up) with exposed conductors. might aswell keep the connections the same....

everywhere i looked, the list just kept getting longer

your right, that is just a small portion of the observations

even the plasterer said how dodgy the electrics looked!

he also ouldnt figure out how intermediate light switching worked either. so pulled the live out and left it!

The worrying thing is what other jobs has this person done for other people who are completely unaware of the dangers.

Doc H.

Looks a candidate for a rewire to me.
doesnt really need a re-wire. should take less than a day to sort the defects, along with a large pile of choc boxes

hopefully not many more. ill try and find out who it was later in the week

Looks like he's ready for his scam assessment !! NIC approved not!!

Probably got one of those vans you see sign written, undertakes all aspects of carpentry, , kitchen fitting, building, painting, decorating, gardening, tiling, plumbing, electrics, plastering, rendering, heating.........etc etc only a mobile number and not a logo in sight!

You know their a handyman when they have 'electrics' written on their van!

this story just gets better....

just had a call from 'dave' asking what the fault was causing the pipes to become live. he denied anything to do with live ended cable

he also denied all knowledge of using teminal blocks to exntend cable, saying they were already there....

he even told them they need someone qualified to change the CU because he cant give paperwork, asked him where the paperwork was for the work he had done and he said he though he didnt need to. and he didnt have a clue about part p. said he knew about the connectors in loft when he removed wall lights from it, but just left it

he said he was only doing what his mate had told him needed done, still couldnt figure out what was wrong with spur from spur

said he was a joiner, told him to stick to joinery before he kills someone.

wonder if he will take any notice

just incase he phones back wanting more advice ive saved his number under 'dave, ****'
