A large garage (very large) that has been converted into a self contained granny annex & original wiring undertaken by the customer & the builder when the place was converted originaly.

At the moment one bedroom upstairs, kitchen & shower room/toilet down stairs, customer is adding a lounge area in the remaining garage space.

So my work was to tidy up the cu & undertake a partial rewire + add sockets add a submeter & rip out the old 6mm submain & replace with 16mm 2core sub.

The old cu.

Old cables run along an rsj

The jb is fed straight from cu ocpd as a spur off ring 32amp & the flex is to the immersion tank....The fcu is spurred from socket & supplies the hot water pump. All now ripped out & rewired.

I did away with the exported pme & converted to TT.

When next there I'll remember to take a piccy of the new submain setup.

You know, you always produce work of the highest standard M107. Really nice to see, thanks.

I'm with Patch and even more so: with ABC...

...Fantastic Job, But then: I wouldn't expect any less from you Mate.

Lovverly Jubberly. :D

With the submain you say no ocpd-what was the white box leading off to the metal jbox underneath meter box.

Hard to see exactly what faults might have been there from the pics-what was wrong with the metal j box-was it earthed and was the choice of terminal blocks a good choice or not.

Wouldnt it have been better to take the swa into the base of the meter cupboard and omit the jb in the first place?

Just an MK 63amp 30mA rcd.

Well the cpc for the sub is only 4mm (supply is tnc-s) from the hed to the metal adaptable enclosure, they had exported the pme to the granny flat.

The line & neutral tails are only 10mm double insulated singles, on a 100amp service fuse.

The metal enclosure was earthed at the point where the penny washers are (no problem there).

The blue conductor wasnt in use but left floating in the enclosure, should have been terminated to cpc if not in use.

The terminal blocks looked to be 32amp but not marked so hard to tell.

The line tail from the dno iso switch was jammed in same terminal as the house line tail. Should have used a second henley same as the neutral.

The submain conductors were undersized in my view....distance just under 20mtrs supplying a granny annex.....6mm a tad small for my liking.

At the load end the armour had been connected to the cu by use of a 951 clamp & another bit of 4mm.

The blue conductor had just been cut off.

Wouldnt it have been better to take the swa into the base of the meter cupboard and omit the jb in the first place?
The metal adaptable enclosure is ideal for terminating the swa, the meter cabinet isnt.

I'm calling in at the property for payment later so will get a couple of shots of how I've connected to the supply

All good to hear the exact prognosis-but have to agree in general a very poor bit of workmanship-as yours is a work of art,as should be with a decent sparks-well done.

Thanks for all that chaps.......

You cut the T&E too short to the left of this pic.

Yes, I know - it was the old cable, the same as the 3 core and earth. :)

On a serious note:

You forgot to connect these up as a ring main - or at least, the ones coming off of it. :D

The numbering of the MCBs to the left of this Pic, Don't corrospond, with those on the "Circuit Identification label" below it?

No wrong try again :D

Cant belive I made such a simpleton mistake :_| just goes to show we all have a muppet day now & again.

Now I'm gonna have a few of Guiness Drink:YGuiness Drink to drown away the shame of being a numpty Blushing.

I will reveal whats wrong later, but some one is sure to pick it up sooner or later.

Thanks for all that chaps........
