Hi is it possible to buy tv's with a built in web cam or connect a web cam to a tv so it's constantly recording? I'm not wanting to do this but asking as I've been told that I've been watched at a friends house through the tv web cam and want to know if it's possible or not. Thanks

I dont know of any tv's with a web cam, but its possible. Pin hole, ip, covert, web and hidden cameras are cheap and easy to install & record so its possible. If its anything other than domestic, warning notices should be placed to alert you of cctv.

Can't be much of a friend if they watch you on their tv using a webcam more like a pervert/stalker.

Wasn't there a scandal recently with one of the well known makes of smart tv where the software allowed the manufacturer to watch you?

I wouldn't bother with a smart tv personally, at least not until the internet is upgraded around here, which I don't see happening any time soon.  Against my advice SWMBO tried watching a film over the internet last night. And just as I warned here it just kept stopping and starting, sometimes stopping altogether for a minute or 2.  Totally unfit for this purpose around here (tbut then that was never what it was designed for)

As I don't own an iPad I do not know why you can't do smileys, do you mean the smileys button doesn't work in the RTF editor? Does typing a : and a ) not give you :) ?

I think the short cut way of doing it does work but I have no clue how to do these short cut thingys.  It is all rather 'cool kid at school' for me.

If they have been watching me then I won't be talking to them again. So is it legal if they have been doing? Surely it goes against privacy laws?

If it's their TV at their house they can do what they like. Whether you agree with it or not or whether you want to talk to them again or not is your choice.

The OP infers that it was the owner of the TV that was doing the recording so hacked TVs have nothing to do with it. As the OP doesn't want to speak to the owner of the TV again I doubt they will be wanting to apply firmware fixes to their electronics!
