Two electric shower in one house

Hi,
Someone refurbished my bathroom and installed an extra 8.5kw electric shower.
However, I found he use the same Circuit Breaker which connected to another shower. So two 8.5kw electric shower use the same circuit breaker.

I just wonder is it safe? As he said if I use only one shower at a time that will be fine.

Both electric shower use their own circuit and its own isolator switch. But in one circuit breaker.
I also uploaded the picture of circuit breaker with RCD.

I am not really sure about it as I am not an electrician.

Could someone advise whether it’s safe to use or not.

Complete and utter ***** and I doubt they were an electrician. Did they provide Certification.

Certainly not ideal BUT should they both be on at the same time the breaker will trip. So 2 people would get a cold shower

Never let a builder touch your electrics they are Jacks of all trades and masters of none. Unless you are in Scotland those works need notifying to Building Control this is a legal requirement. I would recommend you get an electrician in to review everything this monkey has done although they will not be able to provide you with the correct Certification for Building Control.

I would get a competent spark to test the new shower circuit and if possible fit an extra MCB - it begs a question why this "builder" didn't do this

If you are in England or Wales this falls under Part P and you should get an electrical certificate too..

With 2 showers I'd look at wiring them through a priority unit TBH.... then only 1 can work at a time

All electrical alterations should be tested and the test results noted on an appropriate electrical certificate to confirm compliance with BS7671 wiring regulations.. (Some work also requires Building Regulations compliance notification).

ALSO.. they should have verified that the existing supply arrangements are adequate for the additional load..
as it is possible your main fuse to the whole property could blow if the incoming supply is not sufficient..

ALSO.. The manufactures instructions for the shower, most likely state this should be supplied via its own dedicated circuit...

AND.. if a builder has done it I would not trust the integrity of the electrical joints at either MCB, isolator switches or the showers themselves,
as I have seen far to many overheating cable joints done by "people who say they can do electrics"..

I would suggest getting a competent electrician to come and test it all out as soon as possible..

Are you 100% sure that both showers are connected to the same MCB?
If you turn the breaker off, do both showers stop working..
It is possible the new one may be on its own circuit but the consumer unit is just not labelled up correctly??
