I have a single oven and halogen hob currently and I'm adding a double oven in the same kitchen fed by a single 4mm twin+earth. Is there and sense in taking more 4mm from the second oven unit back to the consumer unit making a 4mm ring for the ovens/hob?

A 4mm ring is possible, but you will have to justify it through calculations and design paperwork as it is not following a standard circuit arrangement.

far simpler would be to run a new supply to the new oven,

Without any details of the actual power rating of the individual appliances this thread is pure speculation and guesswork......

First thing I would start with is what do the manufactures instructions for the new oven state in the installation booklet...

typically under a section called "electrical connections"..

this will probably answer some of your question.

Just noticed this in in the DIY section...?

Personally I would not recommend any DIY'ers tackle Cookers, Ovens, or Shower circuits...

Unless they can be connected via a 13A plug then I would back away...

and get someone else to do the design calc's and give you a certificate to confirm its all safe to use.

4mm ring is a standard circuit if the ocpd is max 30 or 32A. OSG gives the minimum size as 2.5mm. Any ocpd rating greater would not be a standard circuit.

As said though, we know next to nothing about the installation here.
